In May 2022, I left my office life to look at using my creative skills. After seeing through the pandemic at a care home (albeit as Administration Manager), it was an extremely hard time for everybody working in that environment, the staff, residents and of course, the relatives, and looking back post-pandemic, I can guarantee that I am not the only person to have changed career path and look at life differently, to dare taking a different direction and doing something that you love. At the time I was sixty-two and wanted to achieve more in my life.
I originally started a small business, Busy Bees Beautiful Things, which show cased my refurbished furniture and sales for up-cycled furniture is popular. However, although this is something I still enjoy producing, I wanted to use my sewing machine and I started Busy Bees Heaven, making pet accessories such as bandanas, pet toys, bow ties, dog beds and harnesses. The product range is expanding, and I am always proactive to a client’s request in terms of producing a bespoke item. Then I started Busy Bees Pet Care Services, which I established in September 2022 and the business has really taken off. I have always wanted to work with animals (and their owners), and this has proved to be my dream job. I took this very seriously and have registered as a pet sitter through NARPS (National Association of Registered Pet Sitters). I am DBS checked and fully insured. It is important that when looking after a much-loved pet who is also a member of the family, you give 100% of yourself to ensure the best care possible.
My two Yorkshire Terrier crosses, Danny, and Wookie are the loves of my life and it’s true what they say, dogs are man’s/woman’s best friend. Danny will very often sleep on his bed in the corner of my shed while I work. I also have seven cats, two guinea pigs, countless fish and I owned my own horse for 15 years. You could say that I love animals!!
